A&A Interlock Services providers utilize alcohol specific fuel-cell technology. This technology is highly accurate and prevents false positives or false negatives. The ignition interlock is wired into the vehicle’s ignition system. The installation will not damage the vehicle. The interlock’s fuel cell based sensor measures the alcohol in your breath and allows you to start your vehicle if it is below the set point. The discrete device, usually about the size of a cell phone, has a removable, sanitary mouthpiece and easy to understand indicator lights and messaging. The device also requires periodic retests while the vehicle is running. The ignition interlock system keeps a running log of activities including test results, engine starts and vehicle run times, so accurate reports can be delivered to any required monitoring authorities. The ignition interlock records every activity a participant has with their vehicle on the device and the interlocked vehicle electrical system. Recorded interactions include activity, time, date, and BAC level. If program violations are detected, additional sanctions may be implemented. Most jurisdictions require participants to bring in their vehicle approximately every 30-60 days so that the device can be calibrated, checked for any attempts to tamper with the device, and the data downloaded to report to the proper court or monitoring authorities. The devices generally use audio and/or visual prompts to remind participants of service appointments. Once the interlock program is complete, the vehicle is returned to the service center where the interlock device is removed and the vehicle is restored to its original condition.
